Rebranding is exciting.
But a website migration — especially when you have years of blogs, SEO value, and loyal readers — can feel overwhelming.
When photographer Hannah Birtwistle stepped away from her long-established brand Hannah Argyle and into a new chapter under her own name, she needed a digital home that honoured her past while supporting her future.
This project included:
- a thoughtful rebrand
- a strategic migration to a new platform
- preserving years of blog content
- protecting her SEO
- and building a simpler system she can manage confidently
If you’re a small creative business considering a website move or rebrand, this case study shows exactly what a safe, supported migration looks like.

Why We Chose Pixieset for Hannah’s Migration
There are several excellent platforms built for creatives —Squarespace, Format, Pixpa and Pixieset among them.
For Hannah, the decision was simple:
She was already using Pixieset for her client galleries.
By moving her website and blog into the same system, she gained:
- one streamlined workflow
- a cohesive client experience
- one subscription
- lower long-term costs
- no plugins or hosting to manage
- a platform built around photographers
Pixieset is intentionally designed for creative businesses who want a professional website without the overwhelm of advanced development.
WordPress is fantastic for advanced builds — and while this was my first migration from WordPress, the goal was the same as every project I take on: finding the platform that truly supports the client’s needs. For Hannah, Pixieset offered the perfect balance of functionality and simplicity.

A Simple, Purposeful Rebrand
As part of her transition from Hannah Argyle to Hannah Birtwistle, I created a Mini Logo Package using Canva and Procreate — perfect for small businesses who want:
- a clean, modern logo
- cohesive branding for email signatures, invoices and documents
- a refined identity without a full brand suite
We shaped a visual identity that feels calm, grounded and true to Hannah’s beautiful style.

A Rare Exception: No Brand Shoot Needed
My website packages normally include a brand photography shoot — because fresh, cohesive imagery elevates the entire build.
But Hannah is an established photographer with a beautiful existing portfolio.
In this case, using her imagery was essential.
So this project became a rare exception where:
- no brand shoot was required
- we curated her existing work
- and built layouts that let her photography lead the experience
A completely tailored approach that honoured her strengths.

The Most Complex Part: Safely Migrating Years of Blog Content
Hannah’s blog is central to her brand, voice and SEO history.
Moving it from WordPress into Pixieset required careful planning to protect her legacy content.
Here’s what the migration involved:
1. Exporting all blog posts
Text, images, tags, categories — everything.
2. Rebuilding each post in Pixieset’s CMS
A CMS (Content Management System) is simply the system that stores your website’s “filing” — pages, posts, images and settings.
Pixieset’s system works differently to WordPress, so posts had to be manually rebuilt.
3. Re-uploading imagery
Image URLs don’t transfer between platforms, so everything had to be added fresh.
4. Fixing internal links
To avoid broken pages and ensure a smooth user experience.
5. Preserving SEO slugs and keywords
So Google recognises the original content and maintains ranking.
6. Setting up redirects
Redirects act like a digital change of address, guiding readers (and search engines) to the updated location.
7. Mobile optimisation
Clean formatting for phone readers — which is the majority of blog traffic.
8. Aligning visuals with her refreshed brand
Balanced text blocks, soft typography, and a more polished layout.
Clarity Over Jargon: Why I Explain Everything
The web industry is full of jargon — and it’s easy for designers to use complicated language to justify higher costs or leave clients feeling unsure.
My approach is the opposite.
I explain everything in simple, friendly language so you always understand:
- what I’m doing
- why I’m doing it
- and how it benefits your business
You’ll never feel confused or unsure about what you’re paying for.
Just clear guidance, full transparency, and an honest workflow.
A Note on Transparency
Website migrations can feel overwhelming — especially when technical terms start flying around. I explain everything clearly so you always understand exactly what you’re paying for. No jargon, no confusion, and no unexpected extras. Just honest support from start to finish.

Why Manageable Platforms Matter for Small Creative Businesses
Working with photographers, makers, designers and local studios always reinforces the same truth:
Your website should feel easy to update — not something you’re scared to touch.
You shouldn’t pay extra for every tiny change.
You shouldn’t need a developer to update a sentence.
You shouldn’t feel locked into an expensive or over-engineered system.
For Hannah, moving to Pixieset created:
- a simpler workflow
- lower long-term costs
- a beautiful, easy-to-manage website
- a cohesive brand and client experience
And most importantly:
By the end of the project, Hannah didn't just have a new website - she felt confident updating and managing it herself.
